LIVINGSTON,
Ala. – The University of West Alabama
women’s basketball looks to add to its first win
of the season on Saturday against Auburn
Montgomery, as the Tigers (1-2) travel to
Pulaski, Tenn. to face Martin Methodist in a
6:00 p.m. contest on Tuesday, November 27th at
the Robert E. Curry Christian Life Center.
UWA is led by
seniors Jessica Thompson and Ashton Washington.
Thompson, a Valhermoso Springs, Ala.-native,
paces the Tigers attack with 19.3 points per
game, while Washington, a Lexington,
Miss.-native, leads the way on the boards with
8.3 per outing.
The Tigers,
which will face Martin Methodist for the first
time in school history, avenged their season
opening 61-59 setback to Auburn Montgomery by
holding off the Lady Senators, 59-51, in UWA’s
home opener. The Red and White improved to a 6-1
in home openers under head coach Amanda Marks
and stretched its home win streak to five games,
dating back to last season.
The trip to
Martin Methodist is the only trip to the State
of Tennessee this season for the Tigers. The
last trip to the Volunteer State for UWA was on
February 4th in a 65-63 loss at
Lincoln Memorial. The Red and White went 1-0
against schools from Tennessee a season ago, as
the Tigers turned back Christian Brothers 60-51
at Pruitt Hall on January 3rd.
Following the
trip to Pulaski, West Alabama returns to action
on Saturday, December 1st, as the
Tigers host Gulf South Conference member
Arkansas Tech. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00
p.m. The contest against the Golden Suns is the
first of a three game homestand for the Tigers,
which will see Martin Methodist and Georgia
Southwestern in action at Pruitt Hall. |
