LIVINGSTON,
Ala. – The University of West Alabama
women’s basketball team concludes the
pre-holiday slate, as the Tigers travel to
Cleveland, Miss. to take part in the Delta State
hosted Lloyd Clark Classic Monday, December 17th
through Tuesday, December 18th at
Walter Sillers Coliseum.
UWA (3-4)
faces the second ranked Lady Statesmen on Monday
at 6 p.m. The game will be broadcasted on WSLY
104.9. The Tigers wrap up the tournament on
Tuesday against North Georgia at 4 p.m.
Pre-Season
All-Gulf South Conference East Division
selection Ashton Washington leads the Red and
White this season, averaging 16 points and just
under nine rebounds a contest. The Lexington,
Miss.-native’s 16 points is tied for fourth in
conference with the 8.3 rebounds rank third in
the GSC.
Jessica
Thompson, a senior guard, is also posting double
figures in scoring with 14.4 an outing. The
native of Valhermoso Springs, Ala. is shooting
44.3-percent from behind the arc, which is tops
for the Tigers and ranks eighth in the GSC.
The Red and
White enter the tournament riding a two-game win
streak. UWA avenged an earlier season setback to
Martin Methodist, by toppling the RedHawks 68-51
at Pruitt Hall. UWA notched its second
consecutive win on Wednesday, downing Georgia
Southwestern 76-45, also at Pruitt.
The West
Alabama contest against #2 Delta State is
scheduled for a 6 p.m. tip-off. |
