LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama women’s basketball team concludes the pre-holiday slate, as the Tigers travel to Cleveland, Miss. to take part in the Delta State hosted Lloyd Clark Classic Monday, December 17^th through Tuesday, December 18^th at Walter Sillers Coliseum.

UWA (3-4) faces the second ranked Lady Statesmen on Monday at 6 p.m. The game will be broadcasted on WSLY 104.9. The Tigers wrap up the tournament on Tuesday against North Georgia at 4 p.m.

Pre-Season All-Gulf South Conference East Division selection Ashton Washington leads the Red and White this season, averaging 16 points and just under nine rebounds a contest. The Lexington, Miss.-native’s 16 points is tied for fourth in conference with the 8.3 rebounds rank third in the GSC.

Jessica Thompson, a senior guard, is also posting double figures in scoring with 14.4 an outing. The native of Valhermoso Springs, Ala. is shooting 44.3-percent from behind the arc, which is tops for the Tigers and ranks eighth in the GSC.

The Red and White enter the tournament riding a two-game win streak. UWA avenged an earlier season setback to Martin Methodist, by toppling the RedHawks 68-51 at Pruitt Hall. UWA notched its second consecutive win on Wednesday, downing Georgia Southwestern 76-45, also at Pruitt.

The West Alabama contest against #2 Delta State is scheduled for a 6 p.m. tip-off.
