LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama women’s basketball team will look to pick up its first win of the 2007-2008 campaign, as the Tigers host Auburn Montgomery on Saturday, November 24 at 2:00 p.m.

UWA (0-2) will face the Lady Senators for the second time this season at Pruitt Hall. AUM edged the Red and White, 61-59, in the Tigers season opener on the first day of the UM Coca-Cola Classic in Montevallo’s People’s Bank and Trust Arena.

The Tigers are led by Pre-Season All-Gulf South Conference East Division selection Ashton Washington and reigning GSC East Division Player of the Week Jessica Thompson. The Valhermoso Springs, Ala.-native, Thompson, paces UWA averaging 26.5 points a game, which is tops in the GSC. Washington, a Lexington, Miss-native, leads the way in rebounds, averaging eight a contest, and assists with 5.5 an outing.

The Red and White looks to extend its home game, win streak against AUM. The Tigers finished the previous season winning their final four games at Pruitt Hall. UWA went 12-2 on its home floor a season ago, posting an 8-0 record against non-conference opponents. UWA will also look to claim its fifth consecutive, home opener under seventh-year head coach Amanda Marks. Since Marks’ arrival in 2000-2001, the Tigers have gone 5-1 in home openers.

Following Saturday’s home opener, West Alabama will travel to Pulaski, Tenn. on Tuesday, November 27 to face Martin Methodist in a 6:00 p.m. tip-off.
