UWA Looks to Extend Home Win Streak

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama women’s basketball team looks to extend its home win streak to six games, as the Tigers (1-3) host Arkansas Tech in a 2 p.m. contest on Saturday, December 1st at Pruitt Hall.

The outing begins a three-game home-stand for UWA that concludes against Georgia Southwestern on Wednesday, December 12th and also features a re-match against Martin Methodist on Saturday, December 8th. The Red and White look to rebound from a narrow 61-59 setback at Martin Methodist this past Tuesday.

UWA is led by Jessica Thompson and Ashton Washington. The duo leads the Tigers in points per game, with Thompson supplying 17 points and Washington, who paces UWA with 7.5 rebounds an outing, chimes in 16.3 points a contest. Fellow senior Irimar Hernandez is the only other Tiger averaging double figures in scoring with 11 points a contest.

Saturday’s contest will mark the fourth meeting between the Golden Suns and West Alabama with ATU winning all three prior contests. This marks the first contest since the 1999-2000 season at Pruitt Hall. The remaining two outings have come in the Gulf South Conference Tournament, including last season’s 65-55 finale for the Tigers.
