LIVINGSTON,
Ala. – The University of West Alabama
women’s basketball team returns to the hardwood
on Saturday, January 5th, as the
Tigers (4-8) travel to Russellville, Ark. for a
contest against the Golden Suns of Arkansas
Tech. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m. The game
is the first on a two-game road swing through
Arkansas.
The Red and
White, which dropped an 81-65 decision to #2
Delta State on Thursday, looks to return to the
win column before opening conference play on
Saturday, January 12th against the
University of Alabama in Huntsville at Pruitt
Hall.
UWA is led by
Ashton Washington, who is averaging 15.3 points
a contest with 9.1 rebounds to also lead the
Tigers. Jessica Thompson is also averaging
double digits scoring for the Red and White with
12.3 points an outing.
Saturday marks
the second meeting between ATU and the Tigers
this season, as the two teams faced each other
in Pruitt Hall with the Golden Suns claiming a
76-74 overtime win over UWA. In the first
meeting, Washington, a Lexington, Miss.-native,
posted a career-high 25 points to pace the
Tigers.
Following the
Saturday’s contest, West Alabama travels to
Monticello to conclude the road swing against
the University of Arkansas at Monticello.
Tip-off against the Cotton Blossoms is scheduled
for 2 p.m. |
