# 11 UWA Blanks West Florida, 6-0, To Clinch Series

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The 11th-ranked University of West Alabama baseball team secured its fourth Gulf South Conference series win on Sunday afternoon, as UWA (25-10, 10-1) blanked West Florida 6-0. The shutout was the first of the season for the Tigers and the first over the Argonauts (26-17, 6-6) in the series.

Kevin Deese led the Red and White at the plate going 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored in the win. Colter Millican (1-0) notched his first victory of the season with five innings on the mound. In his fourth start of the season, Millican allowed six hits with four walks and two strikeouts, while holding the Argos scoreless.

The Tigers scored one run in their first at-bat and posted a pair of runs in the second and third innings for the 5-0. Deese doubled through the right side to score Dallas Rogers and Jeremy Finney for the runs in the second inning. Douglas Frazier extended the lead to 4-0 in the third inning as he scored a Rogers single. Bryan Mason became the second run of the inning, scoring on a fielding error by Argos second baseman Kyle Brown.

UWA added an insurance run in the fourth, as Deese scored on a Frazier single to the UWF shortstop Brandon Brewer.

J. B. Black and Brian Burgess helped combine in the shutout effort, pitching in relief. Black relieved Millican with three innings pitched, giving up just two hits and recording two strikeouts. Burgess closed the door in the ninth inning, allowing just one hit with a strikeout.
