LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The 20th-ranked
University of West Alabama baseball team
returns to Gulf South Conference play,
Saturday, April 5, as the Tigers (30-8, 5-4
GSC) host West Florida in a three-game
weekend series. The series begins with a
4:00 p.m. scheduled doubleheader. The
contests will be carried on Y-104.9-FM and
athletics.uwa.edu.
The series
will renew for the 53rd time at
Tartt Field. UWF holds a 31-21 advantage
with last 10 meetings being split between
the two East Division foes. UWA enters the
series having dropped the last three
outings, including two setbacks in the GSC
Tournament last season.
The Red
and White enters having snapped a three-game
losing streak in a mid-week contest at
Auburn Montgomery, claiming a 6-3 win behind
homeruns from Tres Avans and Nick Wheeler.
UWA currently sits in a tie for second with
Montevallo in the division.
The Argos
(18-23, 4-5 GSC) enter the series after
falling in the final game of three-game
mid-week series with Stillman. After
claiming the first two contests of the
series, UWF fell 6-4 in the finale. The
Argonauts are currently tied for fifth in
the East Division with North Alabama.
The GSC
series will conclude on Sunday, April 6,
with first pitch scheduled for 1:00 p.m. The
game will be carried on Y-104.9-FM and
athletics.uwa.edu.
