NCAA Division II
Baseball
Championship South
Region
All-Tournament Team
by the media of the
South Regional.
Deese, a Fosters
Ala.-native, batted
.467 in the Tigers
three game with two
doubles and a
homerun along with
collecting four RBI.
The sophomore
outfielder also
posted a .800
slugging percentage.
Deese’s lone homer
was his 17th
on the year, making
him UWA’s all-time
single-season
leader.
Joining Deese on the
All-Tournament Team
is Tommy Kahnle, the
tournament Most
Valuable Player,
Douglas Toro and
Daniel Flores from
South Region
champion Lynn
University, Zach
Maggard and Nick
Stanley from Florida
Southern, Nick
Paschal, Jeffery
Meadows and Hayden
Simpson of Southern
Arkansas, Devin
Gonzalez of Tampa,
and Jon Koenigsfeld
from Valdosta State.
West Alabama
concluded the season
with a 38-16 record,
including the 2009
Gulf South
Conference East
Division
championship and its
second straight
appearance in the
NCAA Tournament and
sixth consecutive
berth in the GSC
Tournament.
