LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of
West Alabama baseball team returns to action
on Thursday, May 15, as the Tigers (45-11)
began play in the 2008 NCAA Division II
South Central Regional. UWA, the #3 seed,
will face #4 seed and Lone Star Conference
member Abilene Christian at 11:00 a.m. at
Dave “Boo” Ferriss Field in Cleveland, Miss.
The game will be broadcasted at 104.9-FM and
athletics.uwa.edu.
This marks
the sixth berth in an NCAA Regional for UWA
(45-11) and the first since 2006. The
Tigers, which have tied the school record
for wins at 45, are 8-7 in their five
previous appearances. The Red and White is
1-1 all-time against teams from the State of
Texas, both meetings were versus ACU. The
Tigers are 2-1 this season in the State of
Mississippi with a 7-5, extra inning win
over Delta State in Pearl, Miss. and a split
doubleheader at William Carey. The Red and
White is 5-2 against teams from the Magnolia
State this season with all seven meetings
against William Carey and Delta State.
The winner
of the NCAA South Central Region Tournament
will advance to the NCAA Division II College
World Series May 24-31 at GCS Park in Sauget,
Ill. GCS Park is home to the Frontier
League’s Gateway Grizzlies. The park is
located just outside the St. Louis, Mo.,
metropolitan area.

Tournament can be purchased at the DSU
Athletics box office. Only All-Tournament
passes will be pre-sold. The All Tournament
Package is $25 for adults and $6 for senior
citizens and students. Championship game
tickets are $10 and $8 respectively. For
