LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The
University of West Alabama
remains steady in the latest
national baseball polls. UWA
(25-10) stayed in the 11th spot
in the Collegiate Baseball
Newspaper Poll, but fell one
spot in the PING! Baseball Poll
to 10th.
The Tigers, who came off a 2-2
record this week, earned their
fourth Gulf South Conference
series win of the season by
defeating West Florida in the
last two games of the weekend.
The pair of victories moved the
Red and White to 10-1 in GSC
play and clinched the Tigers a
berth in the Gulf South
Conference baseball tournament
in Millington, Tenn. May 2-6.
Differences continue to appear
in the No.1 spot and throughout
the top five in both polls. The
PING! Baseball Poll lists
Southern Arkansas as the top
team for the seventh consecutive
week while the CBN Poll places
Florida Southern as the national
leader for the second straight
week. The Mocs of FSC climbed to
second in the PING! Baseball
Poll this week followed by Grand
Valley State, Barry and Mesa
State. In the CBN GVSU sits in
second followed by MSU, SAU and
Emporia State.
Delta State is listed 13th in
the PING! and 20th in the CBN
and is the only other consistent
GSC representative in both
polls. Ouachita Baptist is
ranked 28th in the
PING! while North Alabama holds
the same ranking in the CBN.
West Alabama returns to action
on Wednesday, Apr. 8, as UWA
hosts William Carey in the first
of a six-game homestand. First
pitch against the Crusaders is
scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
