of West Alabama
moved up in both
national collegiate
polls after turning
in a 4-1 record for
the week, including
clinching the Gulf
South Conference
East Division. UWA
(36-12) moved to
seventh in the
Collegiate Baseball
Newspaper Poll and
eighth in the
PING!Baseball Poll.
Barry University
takes the top spot
in both polls,
replacing Southern
Arkansas. The
Muleriders fell to a
tie for second in
the CBN poll joining
Ashland. USC Aiken
is fourth followed
by UC San Diego. In
the PING!, Delta
State jumped from
fifth to second
after claiming the
GSC West Division.
SAU is in third,
followed by Central
Missouri and Tampa.
The Statesmen are
ranked 15th
in CBN poll with UAH
rounding out the GSC
members in 29th.
The Chargers are
ranked 28th
in the PING! poll.
West Alabama returns
to action on
Saturday, May 2, as
UWA, the top seed
from the East, faces
the West #4-seed
Ouachita Baptist in
the 2009 Gulf South
Conference Baseball
Tournament. First
