LIVINGSTON, Ala. –
After posting a 4-0
record during the week,
the University of West
Alabama baseball team is
tenth in both the
Collegiate Baseball
Newspaper Poll and the
PING! Baseball Poll.
UWA (29-10) picked up a
come-from-behind 12-9
win over William Carey
and stepped out of Gulf
South Conference play
with a sweep of
Talladega College for
the spotless record
during the week. The
Tigers will host the
University of Arkansas
at Monticello in a
doubleheader on Tuesday,
Apr. 14 to close out the
six-game homestand.
Southern Arkansas holds
the top spot in both
polls for the first time
since March 16. The
Muleriders are currently
riding a 15-game win
streak, after sweeping
Christian Brothers over
the weekend. Differences
appear through the next
four spots in both
polls. In the CBN, Mesa
State, Emporia State,
Florida Southern and
Grand Valley State round
out the top five spots.
In the PING!, FSC sits
in second, followed by
GVSU, Barry and MSU.
GSC West Division
members Delta State and
Ouachita Baptist are
both ranked in the two
polls. DSU is 17th
in the CBN with OBU in
25th. The
Statesmen are 11th
in the PING! poll, while
the Tigers are 24th.
Following Tuesday’s
mid-week doubleheader,
West Alabama returns to
GSC action on Saturday,
Apr. 18. The Tigers
travel to North Alabama
for a key East Division
series.
