INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The 12th-ranked
University of West Alabama baseball team
holds the #2 spot in the NCAA Division II
South Central Region Poll, as released by
the NCAA on Thursday.
Southern
Arkansas remains at the top with Delta State
in third. Lone Star Conference members,
Abilene Christian and Angelo State are
fourth and fifth with Ouachita Baptist in
sixth. Valdosta State and Southeastern
Oklahoma State hold the seventh and eighth
spots, respectively.
Tournament
champions from the GSC and Lone Star
Conferences comprise two of the six bids to
the South Central Regional, May 15-18. The
remaining at-large slots are awarded to the
four, highest-ranked teams in the region
including five squads from the Heartland
Conference. The top-rated team is eligible
to host the four-day Tournament, providing
it placed a bid to host and have adequate
facilities and accommodations for teams and
fans.
West
Alabama returns to action on Saturday, May
3, as the Tigers make their fifth
consecutive trip to the GSC Baseball
Tournament in Millington, Tenn. UWA, the #2
seed from the East, will face Ouachita
Baptist, the West’s #3 seed, at
approximately 7:30 p.m. at USA Stadium. All
UWA games will be aired on 104.9-FM and
