BIRMINGHAM,
Ala. – The University of West
Alabama’s Jody Morgan was named Gulf
South Conference East Division
Player of the Week for efforts in
the Baseball Tigers’ five-game
series at the University of Arkansas
at Monticello. The honor is the
first of his career at UWA.
The Hernando, Miss.-native went
six-for-12 with nine RBI, three
doubles, a triple and a homerun. The
junior battery mate also plated
three runs and walked twice,
recording a 1.167 slugging
percentage. Morgan is currently
batting .286 on the season while
ranking second on the team in
slugging percentage with a .667.
Morgan becomes the first Tigers this
season to garner a Player of the
Week award. Last season, UWA had
eight Player or Pitcher of Week
selections.
West Alabama returns to action on
Wednesday, March 11, as UWA travels
to Hattiesburg, Miss. to face
William Carey. First pitch is
scheduled for 4:00 p.m. The game
will be broadcasted on WZNJ
106.5-FM.
