BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The
University of West Alabama’s
Matt Hill was named Gulf South
Conference East Division Pitcher
of the Week for his effort at
West Florida on Saturday night
that helped the Tigers (25-10)
secure a berth in the GSC
Baseball Tournament.
Hill, a D’Iberville,
Miss.-native,
gave the Red and White a chance
to win its fourth GSC series of
the season by pitching a
one-run, complete game. The
complete game was the third of
the season for the senior
right-hander, who allowed five
hits with seven strikeouts and
just two walks in the 9-1 win.
Hill became the third UWA player
and first pitcher to be honored
by the conference this season.
Rob Dahlberg and Jody Morgan
each have claimed one accolade
this season. This marks Hill’s
first career weekly honor by the
conference.
West Alabama returns to action
on Wednesday, Apr. 8, as the
Tigers host William Carey at
6:00 p.m. Live stats will be
available at athletics.uwa.edu.
