Dahlberg Named Rawlings/ABCA All-American

CARY, N. C. -- The University of West Alabama’s Rob Dahlberg added another laurel to his impressive resume as he was named to the Rawlings/American Baseball Coaches Association 2009 NCAA Division II All-American Third Team.

The accolade is his second All-American honor of the season, as last week he earned Daktronics All-American honors. Last season, Dahlberg was named All-American by Rawlings/ABCA, Daktronics and Collegiate Baseball Writers.

Dahlberg, a Gilbertown, Ala.-native, concluded his four-year career as the school’s all-time leader in games played, at-bats, runs, hits and stolen bases and is ranked in the top five all-time in seven additional categories. Dahlberg finished the 2009 season as the team leader in hits with 81 and stolen bases with 30 along with being second on the team in RBI with 60.

In his four seasons, Dahlberg has been named to the Gulf South Conference East Division First Team three consecutive seasons and has received all-conference honors all four years. He was the 2008 GSC East Division Player of the Year and 2006 GSC East Division Freshman of the Year.

Dahlberg was one of six players from the Gulf South Conference named to the 2009 Rawlings/ABCA All-American Teams and one of 10 from the South Region.
