– West Alabama’s
Rob Dahlberg was
named to the 2009
Gulf South
Conference All
Tournament Team by
the collection of
media members at the
conclusion of the
five-day event at
USA Stadium.
Dahlberg finished
the tournament
batting .556 with
three RBI and four
runs scored. The
Gilbertown,
Ala.-native posted
an on-base
percentage of .692,
including two walks
and also swiped to
two bases in the
Tigers three games.
Southern Arkansas’
Hayden Simpson was
named to the team
along with being
named Most
Outstanding Player.
Joining Simpson were
teammates Gavan
McCauley, Cannon
Lester, Matt Speake
and James Schroeder.
Valdosta State added
Clayton Cain, Austin
Smith and Casey
Blackwood. West
Florida’s Jack
Materne rounded out
the selections.
West Alabama will
wait on the decision
of the NCAA Division
II Baseball
Committee about a
berth in the South
Regional. UWA was
the No. 2-seed in
the latest region
poll announced on
Wednesday.
