TUCSON,
Ariz. –
The University of West Alabama baseball team
moved to 12th in the latest
Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Poll, as
released by the publication Monday
afternoon. UWA (42-9, 13-5 Gulf South
Conference), which picked up five wins this
past week, including a sweep of West
Georgia, secured the #2 seed from the GSC
East Division.
Mount
Olive (49-5) remains the top team in the
poll, followed by Delta State (40-8) in
second. Tampa (36-8-1) stayed in third with
Abilene Christian (40-13) moving up six
spots to fourth and Sonoma State (39-9) in
fifth.
Other notables from the GSC are Southern
Arkansas (41-8) down to seventh with
Valdosta State (34-16) one spot ahead of UWA
in 11th. Ouachita Baptist rounds
out the conference schools in the poll,
moving up to 22nd with Montevallo
receiving votes.
West Alabama
concludes the regular season on Wednesday,
April 30, as the Tigers travel to Stillman
for a mid-week doubleheader. First pitch of
the contest is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
