TUCSON,
Ariz. – The University of West Alabama
baseball team moved up one spot, 19th,
in the latest Collegiate Baseball Newspaper
Poll, as released by the publication Monday
afternoon.
The top
two spots remained the same with Mount Olive
(40-4) in first and Sonoma State (34-5) and
Southern Arkansas (36-4) tied for second.
Emporia State (36-3) and Tampa (30-7-1)
switched positions with ESU in fourth and TU
in fifth.
Other
notable teams from around the Gulf South
Conference are Delta State (32-8) in sixth,
Valdosta State (27-13-1) in 18th
and Ouachita Baptist back three spots in 24th.
Montevallo continues to receive votes in the
poll.
Schools
with the NCAA Division II South Central
Region in the poll are Abilene Christian
(32-13) in 13th with St. Edward’s
and Southeast Oklahoma each receiving votes.
After a
week off, #19 West Alabama hosts five games
this week, beginning with a Monday contest
against Lambuth University at 6:30 p.m. The
Tigers then welcome William Carey to
Livingston for a mid-week outing on
Wednesday and concluding with a three-game,
weekend series against North Alabama.
