WINCHESTER, Va. – Current University of West Alabama pitcher Brian Burgess was selected to the Annual Valley Baseball League All-Star game to be hosted by the Woodstock River Bandits on July 12 at Central High School in Woodstock.

Burgess, a Huntsville, Ala.-native, is one of five players chosen from the New Market Rebels squad for the All-Star game. Burgess is currently tied for third on the team in appearances with 11 and has recorded a 0.00 ERA. He has posted 1-0 record with six saves in 16 2/3 innings pitched while striking out 22 of the opposition’s batters. The six saves ranks second in the league.

Burgess is a two-time All-Gulf South Conference Second Team selection.

Additional UWA players in the Valley Baseball League include Kevin Deese and J. B. Black of the Fauquier Gators and Josh Varner of the Front Royal Cardinals.
