LIVINGSTON, Ala. – Two University
of West Alabama baseball players received
post season honors, as Rob Dahlberg and
Brandon Dill were named to the 2008
Daktronics, Inc. Baseball All-South Central
Region First Team.
Dahlberg,
who was named to the 2007 Daktronics
All-South Central Region Second Team last
season, was named 2008 Gulf South Conference
East Division Player of the Year and to the
East Division First Team. The Gilbertown,
Ala.-native is ranked in the top five in UWA
history, as a junior, in nine offensive
categories and 12 offensive categories
nationally, this season.
Dill, a unanimous 2008 All-GSC East Division
First Team selection, is 22-1 with five
saves in his career at UWA. The Columbus,
Miss.-product is ranked nationally in five
pitching statistics. The senior hurler has
posted the highest winning percentage in
school history with a .956 and is ranked in
the top five in four other all-time
categories.
UWA
baseball team returns to action on Thursday,
May 17, as the Tigers (45-11) begin play in
the 2008 NCAA Division II South Central
Regional. UWA, the #3 seed, will face fourth
seeded and Lone Star Conference member
Abilene Christian at 11:00 a.m. at Dave
"Boo" Ferriss Field in Cleveland, Miss. The
game will be broadcasted at 104.9-FM and
athletics.uwa.edu. Tickets for the NCAA
South Central Regional Baseball Tournament
can be purchased at the DSU Athletics box
office. Only All-Tournament passes will be
pre-sold. The All Tournament Package is $25
for adults and $6 for senior citizens and
students. Championship game tickets are $10
and $8 respectively.
