SAUGET,
Ill. – Rob Dahlberg and Brandon Dill
continue to earn post season baseball
laurels for the University of West Alabama,
as the pair was named to the
Rawlings/American Baseball Coaches
Association All-American Third Team.
This marks
the second All-American honor this season
for Dahlberg and Dill, as the two were named
to the 2008 Daktronics All-America Baseball
Team earlier this week. They became the
first UWA All-Americans since Chance Melvin
in 1999.
Dahlberg,
a Gilbertown, Ala.-native, was named to the
All-American Second Team. The junior, third
baseman was named the 2008 GSC East Division
Player of the Year along with receiving
being named All-GSC for the third time.
Dahlberg was also named to the Daktronics,
Inc. Baseball All-South Central Region and
the Rawlings/American Baseball Coaches
Association All-South Central Region First
Team, while leading the Red and White in
seven offensive categories.
Dill, a
Columbus, Miss.-native, received Honorable
Mention recognition. The hard-throwing
righty went 10-1 on the season with a 3.48
ERA. In 14 appearances and 13 starts, Dill
pitched 85.1 innings allowing 42 runs on 87
hits with 75 strikeouts and 18 walks. The
senior hurler was named All-Gulf South
Conference First Team and Daktronics, Inc.
Baseball All-South Central Region and the
Rawlings/American Baseball Coaches
Association All-South Central Region First
Team, along with being named Rawlings/ABCA
All-South Central Pitcher of the Year.
West
Alabama concluded the season with a 45-13
record, tying the school record for wins
earned the program’s sixth berth in an NCAA
Regional.
