LIVINGSTON, Ala.
–
The University of West Alabama scored two
runs early in the contest and held off North
Georgia, 2-1, to claim the series, two games to
one, at Tartt
Field Sunday afternoon.
Noel Baca
(1-1) picked up the win on the mound with seven
and one-third innings, while fanning
eight and allowing only four hits.
Zach Black
(0-1) took the loss for the Saints, going six
and two-third innings on the mound, striking out
four and allowing eight of the Tigers nine hits.
UWA (4-3)
plated its first run in the second inning when
Chris Gilbertson scored on a Corey Coward
fielder’s choice.
The Tigers
would strike again in the third inning, as Jake
DeRoy hit into a fielder’s choice to score
Darryl Brown.
NGCSU (2-4)
loaded the bases in the sixth inning, but
UWA turned the Saints away allowing no runs.
North Georgia
scored its first run in its next trip to
the plate, as Justin Rickett hit his
second homerun of the series to leadoff the
seventh inning.
West Alabama
will return to action on Wednesday, February 14th,
as the Tigers travel to William Carey. First
pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. |
