LIVINGSTON, Ala. --
University of West Alabama Director of Athletics E. J. Brophy has announced
an exclusive apparel partnership with Adidas, effective June 1, 2007.
In the four year
agreement, all UWA uniforms, travel bags and shoes will showcase the Adidas
“stripes” logo. Additionally, Adidas marks will be prevalent through
signage, banners and print materials at all UWA athletic events.
“We are absolutely
ecstatic to be affiliated with Adidas and their great company,” Brophy said.
“This partnership will allow us to maximize our purchasing power fiscally,
as well as provide our student-athletes with top of the line footwear and
apparel.”
The UWA Tigers
will join major colleges such as Nebraska, Tennessee, Notre Dame and
Louisville when they don the Adidas logo in 2007-08.
“Adidas is a major player
in the footwear and apparel industry, and it is our great pleasure to align
with them as we move the UWA athletic program into the future,” Brophy said.
Terms of the UWA-Adidas
agreement will not be made public, however certain elements will include
prevalence of Adidas marks on the UWA athletic website, facility and venue
advertisements and all UWA teams outfitted in Adidas apparel.
